Kamloops Lake

Kamloops Lake is 336 M (1100 ft) above sea level, 29 km (18 mi) long and 1.6 km (1mi) wide.  The lake is 152m (almost 500’) at its deepest point.  The water warms up nicely in the summer with warm water leaving the Shuswap Lake via the South Thompson River before it meets up with the N. Thompson to begin its’ entry into Kamloops Lake.

Leisure boats can be seen on the lake through the months of summer as well as sailboats and fishing boats.  The traffic is minimal considering the size of the lake but this makes it quiet and peaceful for those that do use it, almost making it like a private lake.

Caliente Lakeside Resort across Kamloops Lake from TCH
Kamloops Lake has good trout fishing and and holds an annual Savona Fishing Derby in July.  At the west end of the lake, not far from Caliente Lakeside Resort by boat is where the steelhead and salmon fishing is great as fish pass through where the Thompson River exits Kamloops Lake.  Kamloops is also world known for fly fishing in the area.  There are several lakes in this area for the fisherman looking for great fun catching the Kokanee and Rainbow trout.
